Tau : Hammerhead
Bueno, pintando taus ando, el modelo en cuestion es un tanque hammerhead de los muchos que mi hermano ha dejado tirados por mi casa .
Ive been painting some tau models lately, for this entry Im showing a hammerhead tank, one of the many my little brothers left around from his huge collection
Y digo muchos porque ha dejado una barbaridad de figuras tau , hay 2 o 3 cajas mas como esta entre infanteria , tanques, y armaduras mecha de diversos tipos de los tau , la verdad no soy un gran entendido de esta raza .
Comentandolo con mi hermano me dijo que le gustaria que fueran Vior la , que es un esquema blanco con un toque de color hueso leve . Asi que me he puesto a despintar con alcol hirviendo y a buscar inspiracion .
Buscando buscando he visto que la mayoria de modelos de esta faccion tau estan pintados con blanco nuclear, que sin ser horrible no es nada "realista" , si es que podemos usar la palabra realista en un juego de muñecos para adultos basado en un universo de fantasia futurista .
Por suerte he encontrado inspiracion en un grupo de youtubers, awaken realms, donde hacen un pintado a aerografo para vior la, que es facil, rapido , y para toda la familia .Básicamente es una base rhinox hide sobre imprimacion negra, y luego dos modulaciones , una en screaming skull y luego otra mas leve en blanco de vallejo , al final se hace un lavado de seraphin sepia para ahuesar el blanco .
El resultado es muy bueno y ya he pintado una riptide y un par de infanterias, ahora le toca el turno a un tanque . El proposito es acabar pintando decentemente el titan que le regale a mi hermano hace ya 2 años o 3 y que esta criando polvo en los estantes .
I say this is one of many models because I have a lot of tau stuff from my brother, seriously I should quit from my job in order to properly paint all of this, there are 2 or 3 boxes like the on showing at the photo, tanks , infantry, and several different mechs, not sure the names, dont know a lot about tau .
After speaking a little bt with my brother he told me he liked the vio r la scheme, thats a lovely broken/bone white, so I began unpainting the models with boiling alcohol and searching for some inspiration .
After a while Ive realized that most of the models from this tau faction are painted with nuclear pure white, that without being horrible is not reallistic at all, if we can use the word realistic for warhammer .
Im lucky I found inspiration in a youtuber group, awaken realms, they did a nice painting job for vio r la, its easy and fast . Basically its a rhinox hide over a black primer, from here a 2 pass modulation, screaming skull and a vallejo air white , at the end a seraphin sepia filter will be applied .
The result is quite good, Ive already painted most of a riptide and a couple of infantry men, now Im going for the hammerhead . The purpose of this is painting the supremacy titan I gifted my brother 2 years ago for christmasts (this nice model is resting alone unassembled in a dark box...)
El arma esta hecha con capa base negra y dos modulaciones la primera de sotek green y la segunda mas leve de blanco de vallejo model air, las toberas son 3 toques en OSL de evil sun scarlet, orange troll, flash gitz yellow, estos tres tirados de forma frontal y al final blanco pero muy suave y tirado de forma independientemente en cada punto para que haga una especie de derramado, todo difuminado con una capa suave de casandora yellow (esta tinta citadel es increible) que permite transicionar aun mejor entre colores dando un acabado homogeneo .
The gun is a black priming with 2 modulations, sotek green and another one of pure white from vallejo model air . The OSL from the tank is evil sun scarlet, orange troll, and flash gitz yellow, these shooted in a frontal way, at the end I used a vallejo model ir white very thined and controlled shooted from above on each plate, trying to put that white as independent from the other plate as I could, the idea is getting something like a light point expanding over the yellow . At the end everything was bind together with a soft layer of citadel casandora yellow (very nicel ink from citadel) that gives a very homogeneous finish .
La parte del weathering (aqui viene lo interesante que vi en el video de awaken realms) esta hecha con un cepillo de dientes viejo mojado en agua y raspando directamente sobre el modelo suavemente, esto hay que hacerlo suave o arrancaremos demasiada pintura, el resultado , aunque parezca una barbaridad es sorprendente y da unos desconchones suaves , ejecutados de forma hetereogenea y muy realistas. Es posible que en algunos puntos nos pasemos rascando y tengamos que ubicar nuevamente la imprimacion, por eso hay que rascar con suavidad .
No obstante al final he aumentado el weathering de forma notable usando la tecnica clasica de la esponjita .
Abajo podeis ver la imagen del modelo con el desgaste y el lavado de seraphin sepia .
For the weathering part (here comes the interesing part I saw at the video from awaken realms) is done with an old toothbrush, soaked with water (clean water) and gently pushing it over the whole model, very very softly because we are at risk of ripping of most paint than we want . The result, even if the proces seems to be an atrocity, is surprisingly nice giving a very soft and hetereogeneus finish, very realistic . Is posible to rip off the paint and even the priming in some paints if we are not gentle enough .
After that Ive increased a lot the weathering at some parts using the classic sponge technique .

Para acabar he pintado la cabina, y he tirado barniz mate sobre la mayor parte de modelo, en los efectos de fuego y luz asi como en la cabina, he tirado barniz brillante para darle un toque diferenciado a la textura .Me faltara añadir las antenas que estaban rotas .
The end of the model was painting the crystal from the pilot, I used matt barnish for most of the tank but for the OSL fire effects and the railgun I used gloss barnish, in order to achieve a different texture . I have a couple of broken wires I have to attach
