Leman Russ panzer grey
DKoK : Leman Russ panzer grey
Ive been delaying the entry for a long time, this tank leman russ, the first of several that I'm going to paint, I had a hard time choosing the scheme, I'm always very hesitant when choosing colors. In this case I wanted something that would match the 143 of krieg.
I did some tests , based on the russ fang mini thunderhawk , but it didnt look good.
After many days of looking at images and seeing what others had painted, I went for a scheme based on the German gray panzer, initially it looked quite basic and simplistic to me, but right now I think I did a great choice.
For this first tank I made a black primer over what I had already painted. Then a base layer of grey panzer (which is really a primer).
From here I went on to make a modulation technique of the panzer grey to the citadel administratum grey (now I have started using the fortress grey of VMC to replace the administratum grey from citadel, the packaging is more comfortable and although the paint seems to me inferior in terms of quality that is supplemented with the varnish layers).
With the metals I have also done some new things using the TMM technique, although they have not gone well, I tried to use the metals that I bought from scale color with scale's own thinner and also tamiya thinner with very bad results (several months later I tried with thinner vallejo and tachan! The result was amazing, event better than vallejo metalic air).
After the modulation, I used the technique of the sponge (see Diego de Vaquerizo), first a fortress grey generous, then a few touches of medium rust from mig, the medium rust has to be very very subtle, and it should be more or less covered at the end by the rhinox hide. The final result is very good and gives an appearance of ehavy weathering .
In the end I used streaking grime de mig in vertical panels and also something in the horizontals to cause heterogeneity (take a look at www.heresybrush.com from Ruben Torregrosa and also Mig Jimenez books) .
The final result I think is excellent. The only thing that still doesnt fit me are the caterpillar
